About

Over the years the tide brought many foreign and mysterious things to the shores of Texada Island. On this morning, though, it was the body of Ernie Tsan, a quiet but powerful labour activist who fought for the safety of local miners, that washed ashore at Eve's feet. After being stone-walled by the BC Provincial Police, Eve Walker, Canada's first female journalist, grits her teeth and sets out to find answers. She follows what few leads come, to the doorstep of Heidi Tsan, Ernie's Salish wife, who warns she is in danger, that Ernie's death was racially motivated, and is merely the harbinger of a darkness that is yet to come. Hidden graveyards, a brutal man-hunt, and through a crucial autopsy that will shed a lasting light on Tsan's death, Eve plunges onward in her search, to the estate of a ruthless and violent mine-owner, Christian Maddox; and to the heart of Victoria City itself, to do battle with Amor De Cosmos, the second premier of the Colony of British Columbia.
