Jess Bhamra is an 18-year-old growing up in West London, where her family has taken every effort to stay in touch with its Indian heritage. Her parents want her to go to law school, learn to cook a traditional Indian dinner, and settle down with a nice Indian boy. But Jess has a secret passion for soccer and wants to play like her hero, David Beckham. Jess knows her parents will never approve of her playing soccer, so she lies to them when she tries out for a semi-pro women's team.
