Phil McQuigge's marriage is over, he's lost his job as a TV producer, and he's also lost the star of his show, who died on the set under mysterious circumstances. Phil has narrowed down the source of his mid-life freefall to an incident that happened in a suburban ravine when he was a boy. He decides that if he can make amends to Norman Kitchen, the hapless tagalong of that incident, then maybe the planets will align benevolently with his fate again.
